Maintenance Services specializes in three types of work requests, each with its own process detailed here:

Project requests are directed to Maintenance Services if a project needs minimal design, maintenance, or repair.

1. Send a service request to the Physical Plant (NOTE: This cannot yet be done online. You must either fax your request or send it by campus mail since a signature is required. The form is available online to print and then fax or mail. The form is available here).
2. Send to Physical Plant Division or FAX to 355-5205
3. The request is routed to Maintenance Services and/or Telecom.
4. The request is put on a supervisor’s and/or planner/inspector/analyst’s “workbench” in FAMIS.
5. The Physical Plant project manager contacts the customer for details and timelines.
6. Service is provided.
7. Project close-out phase.
8. Billing is completed and the project is closed.

Trouble calls are items on existing facilities that require a quick response. For these, call the campus operator directly at (517) 353-1760.

1. The customer contacts the Physical Plant Dispatch at (517) 353-1760 for emergency services.
2. A request is entered in FAMIS and the trouble call is dispatched via two-way radio.
3. A skilled trades professional meets with the requestor.
4. Service is provided.
5. Billing is completed and the work order is closed.

Preventative maintenance (PM) requests are for routine recurring maintenance to keep equipment functioning and to help extend the life of equipment and building features.

2. A request is entered into the Preventative Maintenance System in FAMIS.
3. A scheduled work order is issued.
4. Service is provided.
