For the second time in two weeks, Custodial Services responded to a pool emergency.
At 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 11, Swimming Pool Operator Stan Wilson (pictured) discovered that a light lens had broken in IM Circle’s indoor pool. Wilson quickly called Custodial Services Manager Ted Minnick to assist with the emergency. On-Call Service/Maintenance Lou Clark also followed to assist with the water leak from the break and the lens replacement.
Compared to the IM West lens leak from Dec. 28, there was minimal flood damage. Minnick said the IM Circle leak went down a drain near the broken lens; not a basement hallway like IM West.
Electrician II Dennis Goetschy replaced the lens, which was a spare lens retrieved from IM West storage, while Clark held it in place.
As of Monday, Jan. 12, afternoon, the repairs were made and the pool was being refilled. Once the pool is full, the water needs to be chlorinated for public use. It should be open to swimmers by Monday, Jan. 19, at the latest, Minnick said.
